I bought a hardtop and it came with a free car!

It's not in the best condition...the body and interior rough (220k miles on it) and the tach is "lazy." It doesn't move until you rev the motor up, and it'll suddenly swing up like it's trying to catch up to where it should be.

The motor is in sorry shape as well. The crank wobbles up and down and the car suffers from chronic overheating. The diff and coilpacks were replaced at some point in the last three years, but the motor is in such sorry shape, it doesn't matter. My friend somehow drove this car for three years in this condition. The battery tray is missing and there's surface rust in the tray area.

Despite all that, I'm still on the fence on whether or not I should keep it.

Ohh, and the one thing my Mazdas never did - overheat.

Makes me wonder if you could part it out.

That crank wobble is a PROBLEM. Look it up. I fear your engine may be toast.

That's an awful lot of miles on that drivetrain, especially if it was driven for three years by someone who wasn't exactly on top of maintenance. I'd be skeptical. It's certainly not something you'd want to rely on.

I'm acutely aware of the crank wobble...when I get the chance, I'm going to post a video on just how bad it is! Thankfully, I have another car as a daily driver. I only picked up this car because of the hardtop that came with it. Most likely, I'll end up putting a new motor into the poor thing...

Sounds good then, I hope you got a good price for it!
